We Think Fonts shouldn’t be a burden on designers. If a client needs a typeface, it makes sense that they’re the ones to license it, not the designer they’ve brought on board. Our model puts responsibility (and ownership) where it belongs: with the company using the font, not the person they hired to design the project.
We don’t charge based on how many people touch the files or how many clicks it gets. Just one thing matters: how big the client’s company is. That’s it. No guesswork, no “per seat” nonsense, no digging into analytics.
For all EU companies, a VAT number is required. Each EU country has its own VAT number format, so you can use this website to check if your VAT format is valid.
As a registered Swiss company, Sale Character currently does not apply the 8.1% Value-Added Tax (VAT) on transactions from Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Therefore, if you're purchasing from these regions, no VAT will be added to the purchase price at this time.
Sale Character does not currently charge any value added taxes or sales taxes on its products to customers outside of Switzerland/Lichtenstein.
If you need it, our Swiss VAT registration number is CHE-238.252.427.
We offer various bundles and deals with prices that vary depending on the model you choose. This includes discounts when purchasing different family packages (Full Family, Sub-Family, Essential Family), as well as discounts on each italic version if the standard version is purchased.
For cultural or non-profit organizations, we’re open to discuss potential offers for using our fonts in your projects. Please feel free to reach out to us at office@salecharacter.com.
No. Since our licensing model is based on company size, students don’t need to purchase a license for their school projects. The idea of students having to pay for our fonts simply isn’t part of our principles. The only rule: if the project becomes commercial, your client needs to buy the proper license.
Our trial fonts include an extended character set, so you can actually work, not just test. Sale Character is also open to partnerships with schools and universities to give students access to our entire library for educational use.
If your school isn’t one of them (yet), we encourage students to contact us with any specific needs related to their project at office@salecharacter.com, we’ll be happy to help! And if they end up using our fonts, they’re more than welcome to share their work with us at fontinuse@salecharacter.com.
We currently use Stripe to process all payments on our website. It’s secure, fast, and supports most major credit and debit cards.
If you run into any issues during checkout or need an alternative payment method, feel free to reach out, we’ll do our best to help.
All our product prices are listed in Swiss Francs (CHF.-) since our company is based in Switzerland. But don't worry, we also provide a preview of the latest exchange rates for the currencies below on our website: AUD ($), CAD ($), DKK (kr), EUR (€), GBP (£), JPY (¥), KRW (₩), NOK (kr), USD ($)
Unfortunately, all sales are final, so we can’t offer returns, refunds, or exchanges. To make sure you get the right items and licenses, we recommend double-checking your order before completing your purchase. If you run into any technical issues or have questions, we’re always here to help! Just drop us a line at support@salecharacter.ch, and we’ll sort it out together.
Technically, yes! While the license must always be in the owner’s name, it can sometimes be easier for you to handle the payment on their behalf. We recommend preparing a cart and sending it to your client for their approval.
If a third party is using the fonts on behalf of the Licensee, they are considered a Subcontractor, unless the Designer and Licensee are the same (like when a Designer is working for their own organization). In that case, the Designer is just working directly for themselves. To let third parties use the fonts for company-related work, you’ll need to get a Subcontractor add-on.
We offer a variety of licenses designed to meet all your needs! You can take a look at our different options in our EULA, which explains the types of uses, embeddings, or modifications allowed for the fonts. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, just drop us a line at licensing@salecharacter.com, and we’ll be happy to help!
If your company grows or if the way you use our fonts changes, you might need to adjust your license to match your new needs. For example, if you expand your team, start using the fonts in new ways, or if your usage scope increases, you’ll want to ensure your license covers these changes. Feel free to reach out to us at licensing@salecharacter.com, if you have any questions or need to update your license to fit your new requirements. We’re here to help!
Right now, our website doesn’t support license upgrades automatically. We know that needs can change, maybe your client’s team is growing, or the project is evolving, and we’re here to help you keep things covered.
If you need to upgrade your license, just send us an email at licensing@salecharacter.com. Let us know what you need, and we’ll work with you to find the best and easiest way to adjust your license.
We know it’s easier to explore creative ideas when you’re not limited to a handful of glyphs. That’s why our trial fonts go a bit further than the usual basic sets, you get a wider range of characters to work with while testing.
However, please note that each font is clearly marked with a "trial" designation in the PostScript name. These trial versions are intended solely for testing and evaluation purposes. They do not permit use in any commercial or non-commercial projects beyond testing.
Each of our license options are perpetual, meaning they last indefinitely, according to the specific restrictions of the license you bought. (up to the limits specified for the tier you’ve purchased.)
Unfortunately, we don’t allow licenses to be transferred between different platforms or license types.
Make sure to keep all your receipts and have copies handy for both you and your client. We do check to confirm licenses are purchased correctly. Also, be sure the domain is noted in the web font purchase and that the license details for your client or end-users are up-to-date.
Our library is exclusive to this website and isn’t available through any third-party resellers.
You can discover the specific OpenType features for each typeface on its dedicated page and in the specimen PDF. Keep in mind that these features can vary between different type families.
It varies with each font, but we usually include a good number of stylistic sets to give each typeface its own unique personality. This way, you can customize your designs to fit your vision. For example, the text on this website is set with SC Walla, which uses 8 out of its 19 available stylistic sets.
We only work with the following formats: OpenType Font (.OTF), TrueType Font (.TTF), Web Open Font Format 2 (.WOFF2), and TrueType Variable (.TTF).
You can easily add our fonts to your website with the @font-face feature in CSS. This handy tool lets you include custom fonts in your stylesheet, which the browser then downloads and displays.
@font-face {
font-family: 'SC-Walla';
src: url('SCWalla-Book.woff2') format('woff2');
}

Vertical metrics in fonts refer to the measurements that define the baseline and line spacing. These metrics help ensure that text is displayed consistently across different platforms and applications. These metrics are categorized into hhea, OS/2, and usWin, each suited for different operating systems or applications.
We ensure that the vertical metrics are carefully designed to meet customer needs and work seamlessly across all applications (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or Xcode). If you have any questions or encounter any issues, please contact us at support@salecharacter.com.

To activate stylistic sets on the web, you can use the font-feature-settings property in CSS.
Here's how you can do it: OpenType font features guide .
A variable font is a type of font that packs multiple styles into a single file. This means you get all the flexibility of different styles without needing multiple font files. They’re supported by all major browsers and have a smaller file size compared to static fonts, which is great for performance.
Variable fonts let you adjust things like weight, width, and italics through sliders in InDesign, CSS keyframes, or JavaScript. This not only helps with readability and accessibility by allowing context-responsive type settings but also opens up exciting possibilities for typographic interactivity and animation.
For print projects, we still recommend using our static fonts. But for web and interactive designs, variable fonts are a powerful tool to enhance your typography!
Yes! We use variable font technology for all our fonts during production. Depending on the design, some italic versions might not be included in the same file but are still handled with the same technology.
Yes, but it depends on the type of bundle you choose. This will be specified at the time of purchase if the variable font is included.
The variable font is automatically included when you purchase a full family bundle. Its format (TTF or WOFF2) depends on the license you selected.
Because the variable font isn’t individually priced, it won’t appear in your account, but you can download it directly from your order files.
